Oakpark Alarms: Inspector’s App

January - April 2022 Enterprise Academy Project

Oakpark Alarms:
Inspector's App

This Enterprise Academy project, sponsored by Oakpark Alarms, part of the Oakpark Group, challenged eight young people in our online community with the development of a Fire Extinguisher Inspection App.

Our Enterprise Academy students developed elements of the App in their two weekly after-school sessions as normal, where a representative from Oakpark Alarms logged into their Microsoft TEAMS meetings to check on progress and answer any questions the students had about the brief and requirements for the App.

One of the students, Kane, did us proud as he took responsibility for leading the App development and fulfilling the project from start to finish as part of his one-week work experience with CloudyIT.

The App is Live!

The support from the App sponsor, Oakpark Alarms, and from Cloudy Foundation mentors and CloudyIT engineers, provided our participating Enterprise Academy participants with useful new skills in Power Apps and the digital modern workplace.

The final App applied workflows to allow for inspections to be logged in combination with other relevant data and any potential issues that might also need recording; such as in tracking multiple client sites, and identifying and logging repairs.

As Kane reports in his work experience story, there were challenges in learning the required data structuring and achieving the right design interface in the allocated time, but the team successfully fulfilled the brief and had a happy customer at the end of it.

SLCC Conference App

May - August 2021 Enterprise Academy Project

Society of Local Council Clerks: Conference App

This Enterprise Academy project, sponsored by the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC), brought together young people from all over the UK to develop the new SLCC Conference App.

The project delivered a new modern App for SLCC members to use at the national conference.

Developed by young people on the Enterprise Academy, the project also aimed to help educate and empower those participants with the skills they need for future careers and personal development.

In addition to support from Cloudy Foundation mentors and CloudyIT engineers, the project has been supported by a council clerk providing valuable insights into the role of a clerk and the important work they do as part of our town and parish councils.

June - September 2021 Tech Lab Project

Youth Views:
Aylesbury Youth Survey

This project presented an exciting opportunity for young people in Aylesbury to help Buckinghamshire Council, local charities & organisations to discover local needs.

Following focus groups to design the survey questions, young people of Aylesbury were offered a unique opportunity to share their views via an interactive app developed (and marketed) by Bucks University Technical College (BUTC) students as part of a Cloudy Foundation Tech Lab.

Out of the 7 BUTC teams participating in our Tech Lab, only 3 qualified to the final on 2 July, where those students presented their concepts to a panel of judges and exhibited their projects in a community exhibition at Bucks New University.

The judges and public vote determined the winning campaign that went on to be fully developed by students alongside IT, marketing. and media professionals, for public launch across Aylesbury over Summer 2021, that included a free prize draw for entrants.

Project Aims

We aim to work with educational and community business partners to identify young people who can help give clarity to what young people need in a post Covid19 society.

This will inform Buckinghamshire Council’s plans for how to create better opportunities in the community and in the employment market in future.

The Winning App

The App was launched across Aylesbury to encourage as many young people as possible to influence the future plans of Aylesbury by completing the Youth Survey found on the App.

Here's a video from the UPSKILL project team about their App. They interviewed some of the key stakeholders to help explain how their App works and its purpose for young people of Aylesbury.

The team took the brief and expanded on it to create an App that does more than just deliver the single Youth Survey requested.

They created it to have longer-lasting use by making it a "go to" for young people to access relevant surveys like this, as well as information on clubs, apprenticeships, and jobs that will be of use, and keep them better connected with Bucks youth services, too.
